For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come in
the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature
of the fullness of Christ.
Eph 4:12-13
Betrothal not an
Engagement but an
Espousal
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have
her own husband.
I Corinthians 7:2

The Lord has shown me at least three different ways to have your own wife and the best, I
believe, is to ask of her father and receive his blessing. Now I had to meet her parent, she did
not help with this; but was very quiet and waited.

I used to study, daily, five chapters of the old testament and the new testament of the bible with
a chapter of Proverbs and Psalms. When I made an appointment to see her parent, I was
scheduled to study Genesis chapter twenty-four (24); and I could very well relate to it. I
thought, my God! How appropriate, the story of Isaac taking a wife will guide me this time.

I emulated Abraham servant and had refused drink and water; I was fasting, until I had finished
my story; as you have read briefly in the last two pages, I waited for a reply as Abraham
servant did, but there was silent, so I decided to ask for their yes or no, then, her father said,
“Just because you ask, I should just tell you, here is my daughter, take her and go?” I was
shocked, this was not my expectation. I thought they might have heard from the Lord too, after
all their daughter did, but they wanted to hear from the Lord too.

In retrospect, I was not altogether, like Abraham servant, I did not put a earRings upon her
face, nor bracelets upon her hands; in those days I knew that the lord had given me flocks,
and herds, and silver, and gold; but I was still learning how to receive it, thank God for Ever
Increasing Faith Ministry (EIF) and Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC).

A few years later I was invited again, and since it has been revealed to me that I should pay a
dowry and the price of it; (it was not fifty shekels; in case you’re wondering); I thought this
might be the right time, but again I was disappointed but not discouraged, I knew I heard from
the Lord.

In it all, my obedience and choice, of the best way to get married, made me and mostly Lola a
subject of persecutions for the word sake. Nevertheless in October 13th 2003, I was invited
again, this time they consented; hence the date of the Wedding Feast.

I have since referred to her as my wife, and she to me as her husband, this is not an
engagement, an engagement can be and has been broken, but a betrothal or espousal is
binding. This is one of the things that the Yoruba has gotten right; the word wife is used for the
betrothed and the married woman.

And what man
is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? … Deuteronomy 20:7
Notice the word said, betrothed a wife, not betrothed a woman.

If a damsel
that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and
lie with her; …he hath humbled his neighbor’s wife: …
Deuteronomy 22:23-24.
Need I say more? The betrothed virgin is referred to as the wife.

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and
his wife hath made herself ready.”
Revelation 19:7
Again notice that it did say his wife, when the Lamb has not yet married.

I have “add
ed Jimoh to her name”? The second she was espoused to me, not when she get
married.

We are espoused to Christ and have his name, the minute we confess him and not when the
marriage of the Lamb is come. And we are called Christians, adding his name to ours.

…for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

II Corinthians 11:2

…And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Acts 11:26

On October 13th 2006, I will take her and she shall become, my married wife and no longer
my espoused wife,
so be there!
